Artists discussed on P2 include Uncle Tupelo offshoots Son Volt and Wilco, along with others who mix indie-rock aggression with country twang.

We discuss earlier practitioners of country music, including Johnny Cash, the Carter Family, Hank Williams, Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Bill Monroe, and Merle Haggard. We discuss artists who have influenced the collision of country music with rock and roll (or is it the other way around?) such as Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, the Flatlanders, and Steve Earle.

We're interested in more recent country and roots-rock types, such as Alejandro Escovedo, Kelly Willis, Dale Watson, Robert Earl Keen, Maria McKee, Chuck Prophet, Kimmie Rhodes, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Iris DeMent, Gillian Welch, Ralph Stanley, Allison Moorer, Buddy and Julie Miller, Rhonda Vincent, Robbie Fulks, Jim Lauderdale, Junior Brown, Lucinda Williams, Ed Pettersen, Jon Langford, Shelby Lynne, Wayne "The Train" Hancock, Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Ryan Adams, Tift Merritt, and others deemed too country and/or too adventurous for mainstream country airplay.

We even discuss a few contemporary mainstream country singers, such as Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, George Strait, and Vince Gill.

And, because we love music of most styles, discussions occasionally include artists far outside the Americana "big tent"—it's all music, after all.
